Thank you so much to the auction item donors, auction bidders, generous donors, volunteers, and staff who made this event possible. We're glad to share that we exceeded our goal, and we raised over $147,300 to support our food education programs for low-income Bay Area families.

If you missed your chance to give and you want to contribute, you can do so by going to 18reasons.org/donate.

Join us for a virtual tour of the world of 18 Reasons.

From our teaching kitchen in the Mission District to the homes of our Cooking Matters participants throughout the Bay Area, you'll get a unique inside view into how our programs have evolved to meet accelerating community needs.

Every year, our Cooking Matters program helps 3,500 low-income families save money and learn to buy, cook, and eat good food every day. This year is no different. Instead of gathering together to cook, our Cooking Matters at Home program brings instruction and ingredients into our participants' homes.

Since March, we have held 130 free online Cooking Matters classes, reached over 700 families, and distributed over 170,000 pounds of food to community members in need.

Our cooking and nutrition classes continue to change lives:

"In class, we talk about using vegetables to bring different flavors to our recipes. We make simple recipes that require little extra fat and focus on eating the rainbow. I hadn't thought of vegetables that way--I thought they were just what I had to eat because my doctor said so. But, after making collard wraps with sweet bell peppers, creamy avocado, and some bite from red onions, I saw that eating healthy can be something I want to do. My Cooking Matters at Home class made it so much easier and more appealing to eat how my doctor says I should eat."

- quote from V. M., a Cooking Matters at Home participant

We hope you will join us to support our community as we face new challenges this fall. As a food-focused nonprofit, we will not sit by as our community faces unprecedented food insecurity. With the help of our Master Chefs at Home guests and sponsors, we hope to raise $100,000 to ensure that we can continue our Cooking Matters at Home program through June, 2021. Together, we can make sure that every Cooking Matters student continues to have access to healthy food, because COVID can't stop good.

All funds raised at Master Chefs at Home will support 18 Reasons' charitable programs, and all donations to 18 Reasons are tax-deductible.

At 18 Reasons, we love to have fun and celebrate with you.

We promise that you'll enjoy our cooking and cocktail demos by Caitlin Laman, founding bartender at Trick Dog, and Stuart Brioza & Nicole Krasinski of State Bird Provisions, remarks from SF's Mayor London Breed, and our emcee dream team: Executive Director Sarah Nelson and foodie chap Liam Mayclem.
