Our Participants
- The past two years have been isolating for 67-year-old Isabella. Social distancing and living far from family made for lonely meals - until she participated in Cooking Matters through her local health clinic. As she sits with classmates eating their homemade quesadillas and mango salsa, Isabella’s smile lights up the room. Cooking Matters serves up needed skills and a sense of belonging to people across the Bay Area.
- Pregnancy can be difficult, scary, and lonely. This was Maria’s experience with her first child, as she did her best to navigate the complex process of giving birth. After having her second baby as part of a Nourishing Pregnancy cohort, she is awash with a new feeling: support. Expertise from doulas and maternal care specialists gave her new knowledge and confidence. What mattered most, though, was the social connection - logging on to Zoom into a welcoming place where challenges and joy were met with understanding.
We need your help to invite more participants like Isabella and Maria to the table - give today!
